Reggie Wyatt ripped the HSR to shreds with his 35.02 300H! Did that in the Trials, then came back to win both the hurdles and the 400 in the finals - 46.13 in the 400. This kid is just talented. Very gangly and not pretty to watch, he just gets it done! Randall Carroll ran 10.3x in the Trials and Finals winning in 10.38. Also won the deuce at 21.08. He going to UCLA so I am scared for his collegiate career. Probably do well in football and not be heard from again on the track! Ashton Purvis was thrown out of the 100 on the false start rule! Clearly the best in the state if not the country. I'm tellin ya this one and done is NOT the way to go! She came back to win the deuce (23.46). Kori Carter won both girls hurdles races and Anne Jelmini won both throws - so did Matt Darr for the boys. Kori Carter is for real! And she is a junior. Sadly her main competition was Turquoise Thompson who fell at her CIF meet and went to State only in the 400. Thompson made good on her misfortune by winning the 400 in a spectacular finish over defending champ, sophomore Coco N. form Long Beach Poly. 53.10 - 53.12! Look for Kori and Coco to be future stars. I really hope Carroll finds his way away from the football field. The reports are the deal is for him to do both, however, spring football has never been kind to track athletes. This kid has reeled off a number of 10.3s this year despite missing a chunk of time to a minor injury.

Carter is for real, and she is young. She's going to be a great one I think. Has that look about her.
Carroll is the real deal. Very consistent. Good technique. Solid sprinter. But Spring football almost always wins out when they hold the scholarship! Not sure there is anyone at UCLA that can coach him anyway. Would loved to have seen him at one of the SEC or Big 12 schools - they know how to work with sprinters!
